Pygmies ROCK The Chow Wagon

April 30, 2003

It took 13 years but finally The Velcro Pygmies were invited to headline the prestigious Waterfront Chow Wagon. For those of you reading this that aren't aware of what exactly a Chow Wagon is let me bring you up to speed. As a part of the Kentucky Derby Festival each year multiple locations are set up with beer, food, beer, music, beer, silly hats, and more beer. Admission is free as long as you are wearing an official Derby Pin. The Pygmies were given. The Waterfront location is designed to host the national acts that appear at the Chow Wagons and it was quite an honor for the band to be considered on that level. The Pygmies weren't quite sure what to expect since it was a Tuesday night, but as usual the Pygmie fans came out in droves and it was a super show. For many younger Pygmie fans this is the only time they will get to see the band since they typically can't gain admission to the night clubs. (The band is working on getting Phoenix Hill Tavern to lower their age limit to 12 and up) The show was the usual Pygmie humor combined with high energy rock n roll. After the crowd began chanting they were even given a moratorium on "Bad Language" and allowed to play Pussy Whipped. Due to Derby Festival regulations The Pygmies were unable to sell T-shirts so anyone that is interested in getting Pygmie souvenirs please use the comment area on the website to request information.
